What to Expect From Your Initial Appointment

First Visit

Our team look forward to meeting you on each visit although we believe that one of the most important experiences you will have with us begins at your first consultation. During this time, our goals are to make you feel comfortable, acquaint you with our clinic, and learn about your orthodontic concerns. We understand that each patient has individual orthodontic needs and as such, your first visit will normally consist of an examination and brief discussion of potential treatment options.

Special records such as photos, moulds of your teeth, and x-rays may be taken either at this visit or shortly afterwards. These important records will help the orthodontist to systematically and objectively diagnose any problems you may have, determine the best forms of treatment, and decide when the optimum time to commence is. If you have had any panoramic x-rays taken by your general dentist for other procedures within the past 12 months, please assist us by bringing them along to your first visit.

Second Visit

After the orthodontist has evaluated your records, a follow-up 'treatment presentation' appointment is required to explain all aspects of your treatment in detail. We will provide a complete clinical diagnosis regarding the nature of the problem, a written summary of the findings, and a detailed plan that outlines your treatment, goals and estimated fees. We encourage both the patient and parents to ask any questions they may have at this time.
